Weddings at Hwinzo
Hwinzo is a wedding venue unlike any other on the Mozambican coast — intimate, private, and deeply connected to the natural beauty of Tofo.
Set among dunes and coastal forest overlooking the Indian Ocean, the property offers a collection of handbuilt spaces for ceremony, gathering, dining, and celebration: dune viewpoints, the pool terrace, the thatched A-frame, terracotta brick paths, the outdoor kitchen and fire area, and the circle bench in the forest.
A Hwinzo wedding is exclusive-use and completely yours. Access is by 4x4, adding to the sense of arrival, privacy, and retreat. Ceremonies can be barefoot and simple, elegant and atmospheric, or shaped with flowers, music, food, and details that reflect your story.
For multi-night celebrations, Hwinzo accommodates up to 16 residential guests across Casa Hwinzo and The Garden House, with The Casita as a private bridal suite.
Catering, décor, styling, ceremony design, and event staffing can be arranged through trusted local partners who know the property well. Custom Libumba ceramics — table settings, favours, or ceremonial pieces — can also be produced for the occasion.

Corporate & NGO Offsites
Hwinzo is an offsite location with depth and context. The people who built and run it have spent their careers working at the intersection of human rights, conflict transformation, environmental action, and culture. When an NGO, foundation, or organisation brings its leadership team here, the setting is not incidental. It reflects many of the same values that brought them to this work.
The property is well equipped for focused, private working groups. For larger teams, we can use our Retreat Camp setup: elevated tent platforms with shade cover, connected by winding terracotta brick paths, and supported by dedicated outdoor bathrooms.
Instead of a standard corporate boardroom, Hwinzo can raise a 10m x 12m Bedouin stretch tent to create a spacious, shaded conference area with fast Starlink internet.

Strategy and leadership offsites
Two- to five-day residential programs with full-property exclusive use. Hwinzo can accommodate 21+ participants using a combination of permanent dwellings and the Retreat Camp setup.
Board and governance retreats
Small-group retreats with high privacy and a genuine sense of distance from office environments.
NGO and foundation retreats
Particularly well suited to organisations working across Africa, environment, health, peacebuilding, human rights, and social change. Anyieth and Tim are available for facilitated context sessions on the CMBM model and Hwinzo’s wider ecosystem.
Team-building and creative workshops
Focused working sessions can be combined with the Libumba pottery experience, guided dune and forest walks, and evening programs around the fire.
Facilitated programs
External facilitators are welcome. Hwinzo has hosted CMBM-trained facilitators from six African countries and is designed to hold serious, purposeful work.

Day Events & Celebrations
Not everything requires a multi-night stay. Hwinzo is available for day events, including ceremonies, celebrations, milestone gatherings, and special occasions that need a location with genuine character.

Sundowners and evening events
The dune viewpoints are extraordinary at sunset. Events can include evening programs around the outdoor fire or gatherings on the pool terrace.
Pottery workshops
Half-day or full-day Libumba pottery experiences for groups of up to 12, including wheel-throwing, hand-building, and glazing. Finished pieces are fired and can be shipped afterward.
Photography and film
The property has hosted shoots for international publications and documentary projects. Contact us for rates and availability.
